Leaving Dallas for Kailash yatra is always bittersweet.
This time we were leaving Mummyji to fend for herself for 5 days, with lots of the support from friends like family in Dallas. Everyone made time to visit with her for the next 3-4 days, to ensure she was not lonely in DFW Metro - a lot of goodness from good people.
We started packing our bags on Thursday night, and packed through the night - realizing that we have lost track of some of the things we had inventoried for this trip a couple of months earlier - the headlight for Anish, my Underarmor pants, cookies, bindis for girls in Tibet that we had bought in 2014 and not been able to give out, etc etc etc. In addition to the 3 bags we packed that would come witth us till Kathmandu - Anish rushed out at 3am to buy tons of chocololate and we packed a carton with chocolate and nuts and gifts for Ahmedabad where we would spend a day before leaving for Kathmandu.
As the Uber entered DFW airport complex at around 5pm on Friday, we realized the carefully-packed carton for Ahmedabad was left at home. A quick conversation later - let us go back, forget it, everything we bought for Ahmedabad?, will buy again - we were in the line to check in bags for Doha. Swamiji and Bhavani was traveling in the same flight and were a little ahead of us in the line. With sankalpa in mind and guru sannidhya, the yatra had begun.
